Insurance
While blessed with many rewards, the child care profession poses many risks, too. You have a lot invested
in your child care business. So, it just makes good sense to protect it. Michigan Association for Child
Care Providers has been counseling providers on risk management and providing protection for many years.
We represent most every insurer that writes child care insurance. Below are brief descriptions of the various coverages available and a
checklist to help you determine whether you are adequately protected.

- General and Professional Liability
Provides coverage when the insured is legally obligated or has agreed to pay
damages to others as a result of the insured's negligence. It usually provides coverage for bodily
injury or damage to property of others.
- Sexual Molestation Coverage
Covers claims of allegations of sexual molestation or unprivileged touching by a staff member for which you are responsible.
- Property Insurance for Building and/or Contents
Provides financial protection for real estate and personal property of the insured
against physical loss or damage.
- Auto Insurance
Provides coverage for the insured's owned, unowned, and hired automobiles in
the event of physical damage to an insured vehicle, property damage arising out of the insured's
operation of a vehicle, and bodily injury.
- Package Policies
A combination of property-liability coverages of two or more separate policies in one contract with
one premium.
- Workers' Compensation
Provides coverage to an employer in the event of injury,
disability, or death of an employee.
- Employment Practices/Directors and Officers Liability
Coverage is available for legal costs to defend claims involving sexual harassment, wrongful
termination and discrimination including legal liability for such acts.
- Umbrella Liability Insurance
A type of liability insurance available to individuals and
companies protecting them against claims that are not covered by their primary policies or for claims
not currently covered.
- Health Insurance Program
A broad term describing protection from loss due to illness or injury, resulting in loss of life,
loss of earnings, or expenses incurred. Within the broad area of health insurance.
- Life Insurance
Provides coverage and income relief in the event of a death.
- Loss Control Services
Special reports, seminars and on-site visits are designed to help prevent incidents involving children
and employees.
