Kenneth R. Hale, J. D., is the founder and Chairman of the Michigan Association for Child Care Providers,
Inc. Ken founded the MACCP in 1987 as a business, insurance and legal resource for the rapidly growing
field of child care.
Combining his keen knowledge of insurance with his years of experience with the child care industry, Ken
played a major role in designing MACCP's exclusive insurance programs to meet the unique needs of child
care providers. Ken works closely with the other staff attorneys to monitor provider needs and refine
coverage to provide the broadest protection at highly competitive rates.
Ken also works with other staff attorneys to monitor pending legislation that could impact child care
providers and to provide business and legal counsel to MACCP members on a wide variety of topics.
Ken earned his Bachelor of Science degree at Wayne State University and a Juris Doctor from the Detroit
College of Law. His insurance credentials include Chartered Property and Casualty Insurance Underwriter,
Certified Insurance Counselor, Licensed Insurance Counselor from the Michigan Bureau of Insurance, and
Accredited Advisor in Insurance. He has served as an advisor, consultant and board member of several
industry and professional groups.

Michael S. Hale, J. D. Michael Hale earned a Bachelor of Arts from Hillsdale College where he majored in
business. In 1994 he obtained his law degree, with honors, from the Detroit College of Law and was admitted
to the State Bar of Michigan and licensed to practice law the same year. In addition to being licensed to
practice law in Michigan State Courts, Michael has also been admitted to practice in the United States
District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, and has been counsel pro hac vice in other states.
He is currently president of the Michigan Association for Child Care Providers. He is also president of the
law office of Hale, Stein, Murphy, Hale Cramer & Associates, P.C., a law firm that specializes in business
consulting and litigation.
Prior to joining MACCP, Michael was a member of the law firm of Plunkett & Cooney, one of the largest law
firms in Michigan, where he gained considerable experience as a trial attorney specializing in representing
child care and assisted living facilities in business and litigation matters.
His professional memberships include the Michigan Bar Association. American Bar Association and Livonia Bar
Association.

Heather M. Grefke, CISR Heather has been with the Michigan Association for Child Care Providers, Inc. (MACCP)
as Membership Benefits Manager since 1996. Her responsibilities include coordinating membership benefits and
services for in-home child care providers.
In addition to her responsibilities as Membership Benefits Manager for MACCP, Heather is an Account Executive
for Michigan Child Care Insurance Services, Inc., selling and servicing liability, dwelling, workers'
compensation, and automobile insurance policies for in-home child care providers.
Heather is a Licensed Insurance Agent and a Certified Insurance Service Representative with expertise in
Personal Residential Property, Personal Automobile Exposures and Liability Exposures, and Commercial Property
Exposures. She is also a candidate for the Licensed Insurance Counselor Program.

Terrie Mathison benefits from thirteen years of experience in the insurance industry. Terrie joined the
MACCP Insurance Division in 2000. She is currently a Senior Account Executive with the Michigan Child Care
Insurance Services, Inc. In this capacity, Terrie is responsible to expand the exclusive MACCP insurance
programs to child care centers in Michigan. She also coordinates all marketing activities for the
association, which includes the "MACCP Monthly Monitor," the MACCP publications, and the risk management
and insurance seminars offered throughout the state for our members.
Prior to joining MACCP, she was Vice President with Professional Concepts Insurance Agency in Ann Arbor,
Michigan, specializing in risk management and insurance programs for architects, engineers, accountants, and
lawyers.
She holds numerous professional licenses, including her Property and Casualty insurance license; Life and
Health insurance license; Series 7 stockbroker license with the NASD and Series 63 securities license with
the State of Michigan. She holds the professional designations of Certified Insurance Counselor and
Accredited Advisor in Insurance, each involved a series of extensive written examinations covering many
aspects of insurance coverages and agency operations. Terrie is in the process of obtaining her Charted
Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.
Terrie is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, Michigan Association for
the Education of Young Children, and the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors.
Terrie resides in Redford, Michigan, with her husband. She is a member of NorthRidge Church in Plymouth,
Michigan. She volunteers her time with the Bible Study Fellowship Organization as a Children's Leader in
Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Christal joined Michigan Association for Child Care Providers, Inc. in 2004. She has
been in the insurance business for several years and is an Account Manager for Michigan
Child Care Insurance Services, Inc. She provides both member and non-member child
care facilities with information regarding the association's services.
Christal holds the professional licenses of Property and Casualty Insurance and Life and
Health Insurance with the State of Michigan. She is going to pursue the insurance
professional designation of Accredited Advisor in Insurance.
